Life isn’t always easy; we can all agree on that. For us highly sensitive people, life tends to present itself in particularly intense ways. In consequence, optimizing your resources as a highly sensitive person is key!
I recall reading a meme in an online forum for HSPs that said something like, “Wouldn’t it be great to have a day in between each day, for recovery?” I couldn’t help but smile while I nodded and thought to myself: “That would be great indeed!”. Time is the most democratic resource there is: we all have 24 hours a day and seven days a week. There’s no way to “climb the social ladder” to add more time. You could delegate tasks to other people and have them work on your behalf, of course. However, all of us need to learn how to optimize our time and resources overall to maximize our outcomes.
Three Categories of Resources
Simply put, as humans we have primarily three categories of resources at our disposal in life:
- Time
- Money
- Energy
In this article, we’ll look at each of these categories and, more importantly, learn how to optimize them. In short, we could say that people often get stressed out over time and chase after money. But how often do they stop to check in on their energy? There’s so much more to energy than just feeling energized or drained. This is just the aspect that we access directly on an ongoing basis. Energy operates on several levels simultaneously and backs up all our physical and emotional experiences.
Time
Time is the only finite resource. It will eventually run out, making it even more precious. Herein lies our responsibility to use it wisely and avoid wasting it on activities and people who are out of alignment with our mission/ purpose. The more purpose-driven you are, the firmer you need to set boundaries to protect your time. There are tons of distractions in today’s world, trying to make us spend time on passive activities. Just to name a few: social media, Netflix, news consumption, video games… And of course, people who have no desire to build a legacy in their lifetime, and instead, waste the time of others. (Unfortunately, I’ve met many like that!)
Time is especially tricky because of its subjective nature. Have you noticed that time seems to pass by faster the older you get? A universal experience for working adults, though, seems to be that time is too short! As a certified Belief Code Practitioner, I’ve identified and treated limiting beliefs about time in nearly 100% of my clients.
Money
Money is a renewable resource that largely reflects how we manage the other two: time and energy. It’s also a reflection of our sense of self-worth and self-esteem, and of the quality of our network. To earn good money, it’s not enough to offer value to other people. There are many people out there who are happy to take without giving back, and/or to have you do the work while they reap the benefits. It’s also not enough to work hard to make good money. You also need to put your money to work so that it grows.
Working hard can backfire if you work with something that feels unfulfilling to you or goes against your values. Rather than giving you a comfortable life, it will leave you feeling drained and unmotivated. It’s all too easy to get caught in a job where you earn just enough money to cover for your basic needs, but not enough to allow you to plan and build your life long-term.
Energy
Energy is a renewable resource and the resource we have the most leverage over. As abstract as it may seem, energy is everywhere, just like air! You don’t see it, but you feel the effects of it – and you can’t live without it.
You can think of it this way: Energy is information that informs your operating system about what your reality looks and feels like. Your operating system is the subconscious mind which – as the name suggests – functions below the threshold of your conscious awareness. This is usually a good thing. Can you imagine having to be consciously aware of all the data circulating inside you and around you at all times?! Not only would you be stuck in processing mode and never ever get anything done – you’d probably go crazy as well!!
Energy can optimize the other categories of resources
What makes energy particularly interesting to dive into, is that it can optimize the other two categories of resources. You’d be surprised at how simple it is to optimize both your time and money when you have the right tools. Going inside to weed out unwanted elements (read: blockages, distorted perceptions, limiting beliefs etc.) can literally save you DECADES of struggles! You can read a client case about how this works.
Let me give you an example to make it more tangible.
A person whose subconscious mind operates under programs like “Life is hard”, “Time is working against me”, “Others won’t support me”, will undoubtedly be struggling. Remember that the subconscious is a computer working on autopilot, and that it doesn’t question any programs. It assumes that the programs tell the truth; they then become true in your life experiences. Energy is a dynamic dance between your inner world and the world you see, hear, touch, and experience around you.
Imagine what a magnificent shift a person would experience after replacing the above programs with more empowering ones like “I love my life”, “Time is working in my favor”, and “I am surrounded by loving and supportive people”. This can be done with the Belief Code in a matter of HOURS – even if you’ve been stuck in dysfunctional patterns for a long time.
All your experiences give you feedback about your inner state
The most valuable thing about doing energy work is not the optimization of resources per se, as significant as it may be. Nor is it the enhanced quality of life, which is usually what clients come to me for. At least in my humble opinion, the most valuable thing of doing energy work is that it shows you the causes of your experiences very clearly. This is so because all your experiences give you feedback about your inner state. As your reprogramming progresses and you expose yourself to situations related to the topics treated in our sessions together, you’ll have one “aha! – moment” after the other. You’ll truly become the architect of your own story. Maybe for the first time in your life?
I remember writing in my diary in the early stages of my own reprogramming: “Just wow! I’m starring a science fiction movie!”. Of course it wasn’t science fiction. I had just never been so aware before of how the beliefs we hold in our subconscious consistently shape our reality in the outer, material world. Most people dismiss what they don’t understand as “luck/ bad luck” or “coincidences”. I’ll tell you, dear fellow HSP, there are no such things as coincidences. The web of life is a far too clever design!
We live in a world of illusions where we are taught to rely on (and judge others by) appearances. However, appearances are very unreliable sources of information and can get us into real trouble. Energy, on the other hand, tells us the true story. Are you ready to become the architect of your story?
